Big Band gig

Really looking forward to playing with the Esstee Big Band again tonight. We have a wedding gig at the Long Room in Collins St in Melbourne and it should be awesome. I’ve been playing regular with another big band but it will be nice to play with these guys again….and actually make some money in the process!!!

Am missing the latin playing quite a lot, not just the regularity but the actual playing as well. It’s soooooo much fun!!! Am really hoping that will kick off again soon.

Got my girl home with me again so will sign off wishing you a fantastic rest of the weekend and an amazing week ahead!!

Double Booked

So I got a message early on Christmas morning to play a big band gig tonight (Sunday evening) at the Rainbow Hotel with the Out for the Count big band. I rocked up with my girlfriend in tow and began setting up when another alto sax player turned up (there was already two of us there….) Apparently there’d been a lack of communication and I wasn’t really required. However I ended up playing the gig as the guy who had booked me felt strongly about the fact he had organised me to play and felt that I should. It all turned out alright, it was a fun gig, had a really nice steak sandwich and a couple of pints and am playing the band again next week. It’s certainly not a high paying gig but it’s a lot of fun. Gotta remember to take my ear plugs next week though cos I’ll be standing right next to the drummer!!! Will be playing tenor 1 next week.
