This week I am playing in a production of the musical The Wiz. The show opens on Wednesday and there are shows on Thursday, Friday and a matinee and evening show on Saturday. I’m playing clarinet, tenor saxophone and a little bit of flute for this show. There are parts written for alto flute but it’s also transposed for clarinet so I’m going to play that. I’ve loaned the alto flute I have to one of the other reed players to use.
I’m having a lot of fun with this show so far and the music is pretty funky and fun to play. There are a few tricky clarinet runs but apart from that everything is pretty straight forward. I even have my partner playing in the pit with me on this show and it’s her first show doubling!! Is doing a good job from what I can hear, it can be a bit loud in the pit!!
I only have a few more days of teaching left for the year and have just sent off another application for a new job next year. It would be good to get a little extra teaching next year but I don’t want too much. I still want/need time to work on my internet marketing that I’m doing. You can see some of it in the other posts. I’m also still waiting to hear if I have successfully completed my study and if I will be a fully qualified teaching next year. Let’s hope so!!
